In this section you may find some details about my research projects. In the different sub-sections you will find the list of publications that resulted from my Ph.D and post-doc studies on several different areas of knowledge, ranging from materials and surface science, going through some aspects of organic and inorganic chemistry until physical chemistry. In the 1995-99 period I've been working as a Ph. D student at the Theoretical Chemistry group of the Faculty of Science, University of Porto. In the year 2000, I did a post-doc in the group of Professor Illas, University of Barcelona. In this five-years period, I've been using DFT and both cluster or periodic models to study catalytic reactions on metal and metal-oxide surfaces. I've maintained the collaboration with Professor Illas - and some other researchers - until today. In the beggining of 2001, I've returned to the Faculty of Science of Porto and started a new post-doc in the group of Professor Ribeiro da Silva. In this group I've been carrying out calculations to help/explain findings from experimental work in the areas of Thermochemistry, Organic Chemistry and general Physical Chemistry.
